Call for Papers: The Right Policy for China’s Continued Development

The Chinese Economists Society (CES) is holding a meeting in North America at the University of Regina, Canada, August 20-22, 2008.

The CES invites submission of papers and organized sessions.

Individual paper submissions (in English or Chinese) should include an extended abstract of about 400 words and should be submitted online at www.china-ces.org. All fields of specialization within economics will be considered. Papers focusing on the Chinese economy on the proposed themes will be given preference although papers focusing on other issues are also welcome at the discretion of the CES Board of Directors. Each individual is allowed to submit ONE paper only.

Session proposals, including session title and the name of the chair, the names and affiliations of four to five presenters, discussants for each paper, and paper titles and abstracts, should be submitted.

All submissions must be received by April 25, 2008

* Health Care
* Population Health
* Energy
* Environment
* Agriculture and Food Security

High-quality papers presented at the conference will be solicited for consideration for special issues or symposium of several renowned international and domestic journals (including Contemporary Economic Policy, China Economic Review, Chinese Economy, the Journal of Family and Economic Issues, China Agricultural Economic Review, World Economic Papers). Note that the theme for the special issue of Journal of Family and Economic Issues is “Family and Economic Issues in Transitional Economies”.

You will receive a notification by e-mail once your paper is accepted (or rejected) by May 1, 2008. Once selected, the completed paper, with an abstract, keywords and JEL classification codes, must be submitted online at www.china-ces.org by July 15, 2008. In all cases, presenters are required to provide to their session chair and discussant a copy of their paper (preferably electronically) at least 1 month prior to the conference.

Please note that in order to attend or present a paper, you must register for the conference. Registration can be made online through the conference website. We strongly encourage paper presenters to become members of the Chinese Economists Society (CES).
